Besides the actual creation of handmade items and cards the craft room / loft organization & storage category is my favorite. It is a very new category! This is due to the fact that my room has went through so many evolution’s of organization, storage and use of space. With that in mind, I am excited to start sharing what has worked and why. There are companies whose sole purpose is to help a crafter store all their goodies! I use some of these products and have also come up with my own craft storage ideas that work for my space. I also tend to be a person who doesn’t use my craft items unless they are visible. So I like things to look pretty and be functional!
My Craft Room Organization Pt 3: Ink pads & Punches
My Craft Room Organization Pt 3: Ink pads & Punches shows how I store my ink pads, reinkers, markers, and punches. I love the company who creates these storage solutions!
I absolutely love the ability to have my ink pads, reinkers, and coordinating markers all in one spot. And divided by color family no less! Also, I have room for both sets of the in colors! Of course I also need everything visible so both storage solutions are perfect!
The punch storage has various widths and allows for storage of the different types of punches, Yay! I keep some of my favorite stamp sets and punches that are discontinued. To make it easy to see at a glance I use a small colored dot to easily identify the ones that are not current.

My Craft Room Organization Pt 2: Cardstock & paper bits
Here is My Craft Room Organization Pt 2: Cardstock & paper bits. I wanted to share a series of short videos on a few simple things I have learned to do that work for me in keeping my craft supplies organized.
Since I published the video I had some questions come in through YouTube and email. Here are more deets. Since I am an active Stampin’Up! demonstrator I don’t keep my retired cardstock. I will pack up the color with the inkpad, reinker, and any matching ribbon I have and sell it at my customer appreciation event at the end of every catalog year.
I used to keep my “bits” with my hanging cardstock folders, but that got too bulky. Keeping them in the clear sheet protectors works so much better for me! And I have discovered that keeping a baggie of smaller bits inside the plastic sheet protectors works great to keep it even further organized.
I know part of this is because I teach so many classes and I am always in search of a specific size “bit”. I am thrifty too, and I know I will always use it in the future 🙂
My Craft Room Organization Pt 1: Stamps & Framelits
My Craft Room Organization Pt 1: Stamps & Framelits is the first of a series of short videos. A few simple things I have learned to do that work for me in keeping my craft supplies organized.
This has definitely been a work in progress over the years. Needless to say, I have tried and discarded many ideas for storage and organization. I needed to realize that while that may be a brilliant storage idea, if I can’t see my supplies I won’t use them! So I have modified ideas to suit my personality and crafting style.
I also have the challenge that for me personally, my crafting space is a place for peace and serenity. If it looks like a tornado went through recently I’m not happy inside…lol… and that gives me a reason to procrastinate on creating beautiful things because I get sidetracked cleaning and organizing! Not productive for my Stampin’ Up! business!
This is my first attempt to video “on the go” with my iPad lol… We shall see… I usually use my phone at my table for my crafting videos. No need to worry about shaking or moving too fast!
So, anyone who knows me for any length of time would be able to tell you how much I love to craft! If you read my biography from this blog it has the history of how I actually got into paper crafting. That’s been an evolving process over many many years!
I have been diligent about posting photos of card and craft projects on my blog. However, I have not been as good about just the simple day-to-day thoughts surrounding my crafting world 🙂
When I think of any blog, I try to think about all of the things that I love to see. Including the personal glimpses into somebody’s crafting world, which gives me ideas for craft storage and organization! I will try to do better at that aspect!
My craft room has always been one of my in-home peaceful sanctuaries, and I have loved seeing the pictures as my craft room has changed over the years to fit my needs.
I would love to share that series of photos in a future blog post, but for today I just wanted to share the photo of my craft loft, which I hope is at its final reincarnation 🙂 This is where I teach and share wonderful time with my crafty friends.
I have been saving up for these wall shelves for a while, and my daughter got all of my old cubby shelves for extra storage in her room! She was very happy!! While I loved my old cubby shelves, I really needed adjustable shelving that would accommodate my photo lightbox and some of my bigger display items.
The shelves also enabled me to use the entire height of the wall, they are the Hemnes style from IKEA… And my husband was sweet enough to assemble them for me all in one go! I would love to hear from other people about their storage challenges and solutions 🙂
